Katie’s baby shower at andiamo’s in fenton in their private room had the best light to capture these colors on the ring arch.

TREND ALERT: Sage Green isn’t going anywhere in 2022!

i MEAN, WE’RE NOT SHOCKED BY IT, SO YOU SHOULDN’T BE EITHER…

The Rockin’ Robot Party Co decorated another beautiful baby shower one Sunday morning out in the private room at Andiamo’s in Fenton.

Our installation that Sunday morning was ideal: the restaurant is closed on Sundays right now. (Is this normal? I don’t know… hours are so different in so many places due to COVID right now that I have zero Idea) Which meant that the restaurant wasn’t busy with staff or patrons, and we had most of the place to ourselves to spread out and decorate as we please for about 2 hours if we needed to.

Lucky for Jess and ME: we can install the ring arch, put the backdrop on it, and put the balloons on (depending on which styling) usually in about 60-90 minutes. This can change depending on just how much puddling & tufting the client decided they wanted us to add.

Puddling is at the bottom portion of an organic decor piece: that’s where you have the balloons come forward and outward creating a giant “hill”

Not much puddling was on the circle frame when we created it for the baby shower on belle isle at the detroit yacht club

more puddling was created on the circle frame for roman’s first birthday at warwick hills country club in grand blanc

Tufting is a term we use to describe the overall shape of the organic decor piece. We add additional organic balloon clusters (usually quints, quads, and sixlets) onto the original ‘chain’ that we’ve created to add body and movement to the piece.

a lot of tufting was added to this outdoor organic half arch installed on this gazebo. this was created by adding additional clusters of balloons onto the first chain we attached to the structure. this gives the organic piece more movement and body.

*Not our work: this demi arch doesn’t have much movement or tufting: it looks as though the artist created this with one line of organic and only added on the baby balloons throughout.

Jess and I often step back and make sure that our organic pieces are moving nicely during installation.

we often stop and take photos during installation too, just to make sure the balloons will photograph nicely.

We’ll use the term “serpentining” to each other or shout to each other “there’s not enough bulge here!” When we shout things like that to each other… I swear, there’s always someone that walks by and gives us a “what the hell?” face.

The client, Michelle, was throwing this baby shower for her good friend (or sister? Sometimes I don't get the entire story) Kate. She knew ahead of time that she definitely wanted to use the boxwood hedge wall, and that she wanted to use our circle frame (sometimes people ask for our “ring frame” or our “circle arch” or our “ring arch” - we know what you mean. Don’t worry about it too much) Kate didn’t know the gender of the baby that she was expecting.

The client wanted GENDER-NEUTRAL decoration ideas for the baby shower theme Over the Moon.

The color palette I came up with is a variation of one of the trendy palettes from 2021. So we are just bringing one of our most popular color duos over into 2022: willow & empower-mint from Tuftex (two of my faves!)

I love it because it can pull as a green just as much as it can pull as a blue-green. A lot of times when our clients show us the photos from this baby shower that we decorated in Fenton: they refer to this color palette as “teals and muted aquas” - and I have to let them know that willow is definitely a moody-blue sage green balloon.

I knew that the blue-green in Willow & Empower-mint would give us the blue-ish cool tone feel of “over the moon” but the green would tie in nicely with the boxwood hedge photo backdrop. Jess and I like to change our chromes and metallics whenever we ‘repeat’ a color palette, especially if we are using it for the same ‘type’ of event.

We had recently decorated a BOHO baby shower at the Oakley in Holly with willow, empower-mint, stone, and chrome gold for Morgan in September.

We knew we wanted a different neutral than Stone and we knew we wanted to change our chrome.

If you ever get to work with Jess during a consultation: 9x out of 10: she will try to talk you into a chrome. She loves getting a chrome balloon in the mix as an accent. I personally love to add in an agate if we can swing it with the palette (they don’t work with every palette) or a metallic. I think the metallics are a little softer but it just depends on the look. But that’s what makes Jess and I a great team: we come up with amazing palettes together!

I digress (as usual) Jess was REALLY looking forward to having us use Chrome Rose Gold because we haven’t gotten to really use it yet this year, and we just recently got the larger size of it from Gemar Balloons (an Italian balloon manufacturer who created the “Shiny” sheen line which is comparable to Qualatex’s Chrome line… but what makes Gemar’s a little nicer is that they have their Shiny balloons available in 5”, 13”, 19”, and 36” (verses Qualatex who only has 7”, 11”, and 36” and if you’ve read my blog before you know: the 17”-19” is detrimental to my organic building structure. It’s the size I primarily use to build with: if the balloon doesn’t come IN that color it likely isn’t in my stock))

So Jess talked me into Chrome Rose Gold, Empower-Mint, and Willow so far. For our neutral the client I had suggested Cameo, and then we spent some time debating between white or ivory… we decided to go with white this time around (but we will probably try this palette again with ivory and chrome gold because that was pretty too!)

We got so many compliments on this organic balloon arch on the circle frame. We also got to use our brand new Oh Baby neon sign in white that I had just gotten created for us. It’s even dimmable to match the tone of the space.

Do you want to order this circle frame for your baby shower?

Ask for the circle frame with the boxwood backdrop.

the colors are white, cameo, willow, empower-mint, and chrome rose gold.

The styling on this piece is referred to as our demi (we offer 6 different balloon stylings on our circle frame, if you want your balloons styled a different way).

This decor piece is a rental which means that we have to come and set it up as well as come back to tear it down.

You can choose how you want your balloons styled on the circle frame: diagonal, asymmetrical split, center split, demi split, demi (this!), full surround, or a full wall.

We also have 6 backdrops to choose from (as of June 2022) those are: boxwood, rainbow clouds, gold glitter, silver glitter, white, and black.

You can add customization to the circle frame easily too: whether it’s the guest of honor’s name or logo on the backdrop or adding one of our neon signs (or having us get a neon sign custom created for you!)

Our circle frame rentals begin at $795* for the diagonal orientation + delivery/install + teardown.  *That price is subject to change and may not reflect the price today.
